A new addition to the family coming soon...

No it's not a baby, it's a puppy! Knowing me, a dog is the last thing anyone would ever expect me to have, but I couldn't help falling in love with this sweet little thing when we were visiting my in-laws at Christmas time. Brandon's mom has a black lab and she had a litter of 6 puppies on Dec. 18. When I was down there I couldn't put this puppy down- I was always holding him and it was no different when we were there last weekend. So we decided that we were really going to do it. The puppies are already being weaned by their mom and so by this time next week, we'll have a new member of the family! The other exciting news is that Emily has decided she wants one too, and so she'll come down with us to pick one out for her!

I am very excited, but mostly nervous. I am a freak about cleanliness, so this will be really hard for me. I have no experience in owning or training a dog, and I am pretty much allergic to dogs! So why are we doing this? Well, Brandon has always wanted another dog and I have started to warm up to the idea over the past little while. We think it will be fun whenever we are hiking, climbing, camping or even just out running around. So here we go!

Brit, he is adorable! Hubs would be so jealous. He has been trying to talk me into a dog forever. But like you, I don't think I could handle the mess. Heck, I already feel like I clean up non-stop.

My brother Dave and his wife just got a newborn chocolate lab last summer, and she is adorable and so much fun. Just a little bit hyper. The kids love her though.

Good luck with your new addition!

Wella, I love dogs but you are in for a tough job! My good friend Bridget has a black lab (she really is the best dog ever) but Bridget HAS to vacuum everyday and even at that there is black hair everywhere. (I couldn't leave her house without hair on me...sometimes in the food we would eat there, and she really is a neat freak just like us) I would dog sit when they lived in AZ and seriously I was shocked when Lucy had not even been in my house 2 hours.....I open up the microwave and there was a Lucy hair in there! It's magic how it gets in the tightest, least expected places. But, on the other hand their dog is sooooo sweet. She was trained really well as a puppy and is the most well behaved dog I've ever seen. So, love your pup and don't get too mad about all the hair. Good luck! He is super cute.

Oh please don't tell me that! Dog hair in the microwave?!!! I will die. I think the plan is to have him be mostly in the basement or outside. I don't do well with dog hair or any other kind of messes.

You'll be the best mama to that little Coal! And what is the other's name? They are lucky to have you! Dogs are the seetest. Even if you weren't a dog lover before. Just ask your brother...JJ slept in between us last night because we missed her so much! Have fun!
